Dr. Ashley Johnson-Holder, a former elementary and secondary reading specialist, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Elementary Education. Dr. Holder currently serves as President of the North Carolina Association of College Professors of Reading (NCACPR) and Vice President of the Cross Creek Reading Council. She is active in many professional organizations and conducts workshops for students that increase familiarity with reading assessments and technologies. Her instructional delivery is both web-enhanced and online to promote engagement and to meet the needs of her students. Dr. Holder’s research interests include student engagement and motivation, Generation Z (students born after 1995) learning styles and characteristics, digital and global literacy, teacher licensure assessments, teacher preparation, edTPA, 21st-century literacies, and community and relationship building in the classroom.
